43. Saturated Squares
Artist: Sarah Wanek
Benefactor: Cornhusker Bank
Location: Traveling Exhibit
This design was inspired by color, texture, and contrast, but also my love of a new technique that uses colorful squares. These squares would be large at first, with progressively smaller squares added to create multiple layers of color in acrylic paint. It would resemble a fusion of 70’s psychedelic colors with a more modern pixelated aesthetic. I really want these hands to be bold, exciting, and something that will catch people’s attention from far away.
I was inspired to create something that would draw people in and ultimately bring them to Campus Life through curiosity and conversation. I want this piece to be something people will remember and come back to; a piece that would be truly worthy to help celebrate 50 years of Campus Life.
