44. Woodsy Owl

Artist: Patrick Gauthier

Benefactor: Cornhusker Bank
Location: Traveling Exhibit

A big old tree that has survived many years and storms has so many things to offer;  shade from the hot summer sun, oxygen for us to breathe and homes to many animals.  An old weathered tree may have more cracks, torn bark or even unattractive knots.  This condition is fine because it gives the tree character.  The different cracks, crevices and holes are a great source for animals to make nests and homes. Different size openings can provide shelter for different birds and animals. A large hollowed out knot or crevice will be ideal for an owl or family of owls.
