17. Hands of Celebration

My inspiration for this design is hands painted with Mahndi designs. The application of henna to create decorative designs on the hands and feet has been done throughout the world for a very long time. The henna paste sets on the skin for at least 8 hours before removed, leaving a temporary design on the skin. Usually applied prior to celebrations (such as a wedding) on to the hands and feet. It was originally done as a simple dot applied to the palm, as a means for cooling down the body, then later on, they began to add lines and other elaborate designs we see today.
NOTE – This would be painted with acrylic paint with white in the background and black painted designs which would wrap around the form of the hands.
